Share Your Closet
There is a golden rule when it comes to shopping, especially when you’re trying to build a useful, harmonious collection of clothing and accessories that all work together. How many different ways can I wear this item? That’s it! So simple it should be easy to make a habit. When considering a purchase, I take a mental tally of items (that I already own) that the “new item” can be worn with. Good rule of thumb? I don’t make a purchase unless I have at least 3-4 things in my closet to wear with it.
On that note, we thought what better way to inspire you! We will be featuring one amazing item that we both consider ‘extremely versatile’ every month. We will break down the brand, the item and show you how we both, styled it individually.
This month, we both styled a maxi skirt from a brand we love, Flynn Skye. We have been a huge fan of their clothes for years, but it was the brands message that made us fall in love with them even more since it’s so strikingly similar to ours. Flynn Skye is made for the girl who is not afraid to take risks and lives with no limits, a women who is powerful.
The brand screams California. They make easy, versatile pieces that can be worn on the daily. Their clothes are a little sexy, but also edgy. Beautiful pieces that would make anyone feel good. Flynn Skye was created and made in LA and they thoroughly embed that beach meets city vibe that we both can relate to so strongly.
We chose this dreamy maxi skirt because its lightweight, three teared and has just the right amount of flowyness. The super versatile print that can be worn endless ways on most body shapes. Check out how easily it can be taken from day to night.
Katy – I wore the Sedonda Skirt with a fun mock neck crop, which comes in 6 colors and is only $. Definitely going back to get the mustard colored one as well! You can wear the top regular, in a knot, or as an undershirt for overalls or a cami. Other tops I would pair it with: graphic tee (like this), something striped or with another pattern to give it that funky mix and match look, or with a tight crop top (like this).
Shawna – I had the perfect bodysuit ($39) that I thought would do a good job dressing the Sedona Skirt up a bit. I decided to stick to all black and pair it with suede heels and custom necklace from Love Tatum that I wrapped twice to make a choker. To be honest, I had so many options in my closet to choose from. This ruffle sleeved top in white would be a great, more conservative option but there are several Free People Brami’s that are a little sexier and would work too, this one ($30) is one of my favorites.
Who do you share your closet with? We would love to hear!
XO, Shawna & Katy
