Share Your Closet
There is a golden rule when it comes to shopping, especially when you’re trying to build a useful, harmonious collection of clothing and accessories that all work together. How many different ways can I wear this item? That’s it! So simple it should be easy to make a habit. When considering a purchase, I take a mental tally of items (that I already own) that the “new item” can be worn with. Good rule of thumb? I don’t make a purchase unless I have at least 3-4 things in my closet to wear with it.
On that note, we thought what better way to inspire you! We will be featuring one amazing item that we both consider ‘extremely versatile’ every month. We will break down the brand, the item and show you how we both, styled it individually.
This month, we both styled a pair of Striped Velvet Leggings from our go-to brand, Free People. One thing you cannot deny about Free People is they know who they are. You can feel a spirit, an essence, in their clothing. We appreciate them so much because they understand women, our intelligence, creativity and individuality. Free People is for the girl who likes to keep busy and push life to its limits, with traveling and hanging out and everything in between. The brand allows us to be creative and individual, so that when Katy and I do go shopping together, we would never come out looking alike.
Sometimes it just feels so nice to have pants that aren’t jeans. These pants are so versatile you could wear them to the grocery store or a night on the town depending on how you style them. I love this green and black combo but if that’s not your vibe they come in dark berry and midnight blue.
These pants make me literally “pet myself,” their soft, velvety touch gives me all the Fall feels. Who doesn’t love a great pair of stretchy pants? I am not really one to wear tight pants and a tight top so I paired these stretchies with an oversized sweater by Free People (which happens to come in 5 colors!). My look became complete once I added my favorite new Camino Brands purse, classic pumps, and fiddler cap.
“I found the cutest graphic band tee…also at Free People (shocker!). Slouchy tees can be difficult to pull off, but I thought it was the perfect compliment with the fall-inspired leggings. The shirts lace-up detailing is sexy and edgy is what made it so different. The nights are beginning to get chilly so I brought a black leather moto jacket incase, I have had this one for a few seasons now, such a great purchase! I chose these mixed metal earrings and QUAY mirrored lensed sunnies. However, these black leather studded booties pulled the entire look together. And….PS, they are super comfortable!”
How would you style these leggings?! We would LOVE to hear!
