Holiday Feels

Take it from Pharrell this holiday season, it’s all about the “Feels”. Sooooo many luxe fabrics, so little time. As always, mixing textures is one of the hottest trends this fall and winter, it’s also an easy way to add interest to your outfit, and very easy to pull off. It also helps you stay warm during the colder months, while still looking chic…which is always the goal right?

Winter Florals

Take the floral trend into the holiday season with this velvety LBD. The print gives it that ‘something’ suitable for winter festivities and adds eye catching interest. I will have a case of the “feels” this holiday season, velvety textures being my staple go-to.

As they say, fashion always comes full circle. I NEVER thought I would wear velvet. In my younger days I thought that people who wore velvet were dated. In high school, my first job was at a chiropractic office. One of the other employees was probably 7-8 years older than me. She was a total doll, and I was in the midst of the “too cool” phase. We were discussing my upcoming prom and she told me I should wear her old prom dress. She began to describe it….black crushed velvet with spaghetti straps. I could feel my face get red as I politely turned down her offer. The voice in my head sounded like Cher from Clueless, “As, if! I would never wear that!” Well, look at me now….allllll decked out in velvet everything. I would also bet the farm that if I were having this conversation with her today I would be stoked to wear that dress.

I can’t end without mentioning these shoes….ahhh they are suede, gorgeous and as comfy as can be. I love the feminine tie around the ankle. I’ll definitely be rocking these to all my holiday parties. See link below to get them ↓ (the nude color is beautiful too!)

Pants Party

If you’re like me, when thinking about holiday parties, I imagine sparkling dresses and glamorous gowns. Au contraire! You don’t have to wear a party dress to get all dolled up.  From pants, to suits, to no-fuss jumpsuits – super silky metallics act as the ultimate neutral on the holiday party circuit this year, especially when styled with lux accessories.  When all else fails, go bold or go home, right?!

I’m such a sucker for a good pair of pants and I love to push the envelope with my fashion choices. These show-stopping, lurex trousers have a wide-leg, high-waisted silhouette, and shimmery pleats throughout. I’m obsessed with the draped panel that falls along the side of each leg. Pants that make you want to move and dance! I’m all in.

Silver that’s fit for a snow queen. Wear them with a soft, chunky cropped sweater in a snowy white hue, glam earrings and silky sock boots. Or, pair these statement pants with a simple, polished blouse and strappy heels like I did. Finish it off with an oversized faux fur coat…classy yet totally fun.

Style – This season it’s all about textures. Bring on the velvet, wool, metallic, lace, silk, cashmere….so many gorgeous textures to choose from. How are you supposed pick just one to wear, on any given winter day? The answer is simple: Cheat, and wear them all together! And if you’re still doubting it, it’s nothing a little spiked egg nog can’t take care of! Cheers!
