How many different ways can I wear this item? We have the chance to feature one amazing item that we both consider ‘extremely versatile’ every month. We break down the brand, the item and show you how we both, styled it individually.

Free People

This month, we both styled a silk duster from Free People. One thing you cannot deny about Free People is they know who they are. You can feel a spirit, an essence, in their clothing. They understand women, our intelligence, creativity and individuality. Free People is for the girl who likes to keep busy and push life to its limits, with traveling and hanging out and everything in between. The brand allows us to be creative and individual, so that when we go shopping together, we would never come out looking alike.

Marilyn Duster

I saw this duster in the store and fell in love. The fabric is silky, soft and has a gorgeous sheen that looks so rich when the light hits it. The perfect addition to anyones closet because it’s so versatile and it’s under $80! Free People made this piece in two colors, black and what they call ‘red’ but it’s much more of a burnt orange color in person. When worn open, the duster allows endless possibilities for effortless layering all year. Duster coats are universally flattering as they can fit ANY body type and can be worn over shorts, pants, dresses, skirts and jumpsuits. See how we transformed this piece from dressy to everyday casual.

This duster has become a closet staple for me. The color is evvvvverything, in fact that (and the beautiful light silky fabric) is what I was so drawn to. It feels equal parts sexy and festive for any party I’m attending this season. I love that I have the option to keep it tied or wear it open. While you can never go wrong with a classic little black dress, I fell in love with the twist of velvet and plunging neckline on this one. I couldn’t wait to combine the rich textures of these two pieces and wear them together. And the shoes! These pointy-toe camo sock boots go with everything, I love how it pulled this holiday look together perfectly.

I’m a sucker for burnt orange and this piece added the perfect touch to my casual outfit. I wore this open because I love the way it moves and flows when you walk. You can up-level your hooded sweater or any other top by adding this layer over it. In San Diego it is super chilly in the morning and (usually) warms up as the day progresses leaving its residents stripping their layers yet adding them back on as the sun sinks below the deep blue sea.

Style: Pieces that can go day to night or casual to dressy are the ones that we want in our closet. Versatility is the name of the game in getting the most bang for your buck. We love the flexibility of being creative and the ability to wear things in ways you may have never dreamed of.
