Happy gut, happy life

If 2020 was responsible for anything positive, it was a reminder to improve my overall health. I was sleeping better, my fitness strategy completely shifted from heated intense cardio sessions and a lot of high impact movements, to a much gentler approach. I also wanted to clean up diet, and figure out why I was having a few days of major bloating, discomfort and pain from time to time. It certainly wasn't happening everyday, but when it did come, it was 3 to 4 days of feeling horrible. Was it age? Could it be something series? I did a little research and was confident that a few small adjustments could help, and thankfully they have rather quickly.

I changed up my diet

I've always had a great relationship with food. I grew up with a mom who was very health conscious so I was taught from an early age that I liked to make healthier food choices. However, I'm not a stick in the mud, I love to live a little and enjoying things in the moment with no regrets. With that said, I don't really "track" my food, and I'm sure there are many times when I'm eating too late or not getting enough of something. I have started eating being much more conscious of my gluten, dairy, protein & fiber intake everyday. While making these adjustments, they can take a lot of time to resolve. Changing up my diet has certainly helped my gut issues, however this is still a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly journey that I will continue.

I started taking a daily probiotic

I'm a huge believer in probiotics. I started taking them about a year ago and instantly, loved how much better they made me feel. But the probiotic I knew was a bit high maintenance. The refrigeration part of taking a probiotic was annoying, especially when I would travel and couldn't take them with. Ironically that is when my gut acts up the most. I loved the effects, however, they were proving to be inconvenient.

Then I found a brand that not only has convenient probiotic capsules, but also make great tasting chewable tablets. BioGaia is legit. They have over 200 clinical trials and are backed by science. My gut is not something I want to mess with so this was super important to me. I personally love taking the Adult Immune Active capsules everyday and they help keep my system regular, no matter what. Then, the Gastrus & Protectis tablet's are amazing for those moments of tummy discomfort and they work almost immediately. No matter what the situation I feel so much more confident with my gut having these products handy. I even have my kids taking them. Brock has benefitted so much from the Kids Immune Active tabs, they're super yummy, he loves them. I only wish I would have known about them sooner. Brock also had colic as a baby and I would have totally given him their drops, the reviews on the drops are amazing!

Stress is often a corporate.

I learned that your gut is actually a creature of habit and would love it if you ate at the same times each day, as well as sleeping at the same times each day. Post 2020, I've gotten myself on a pretty consistent schedule with almost everything. For one, I'm home more than ever which has made this so much easier. Which has allowed me to make healthier food choices too. And because I'm not running around like a crazy person anymore, my life is so much more chill and my overall well being has improved because of it.
