Why We Need Girlfriends

Girls Diamonds are a girl's best friend. No, but seriously, the relationships we have with our girlfriends are beyond irreplaceable. And funny enough, the older we get, the more we realize how much we need our girlfriends now, more than ever. Life has gotten more complicated for all of us and our thirties have presented hardships we couldn’t have even imagined when we were young and carefree.

Four girlfriends cheers champagne on Galentine's Day

Quality girlfriend time is something we need for our sanity and soul. Like working out, there is a sense of euphoria felt after spending time with close friends. It can be a difficult thing to plan with life's many obligations, but it is always worth the effort. We certainly need the amazing men in our lives. They all play a crucial role too, however, men aren’t designed to understand us like one of our own. Girlfriends help you find your normal when your life seems like anything but normal.

Having great friends is largely a matter of being a great friend. Our circle is so solid because we all invest in one another. In a friend's greatest time of need, they will reap the benefits because they have been such a great friend themselves. Our girlfriends can't save us but girlfriends can help make things feel bearable. They can listen, empathize and show compassion. They can read our mind and emotions because they know us so well, intuitively recognize what needs to be done.

The time, experiences, and history together are some of our life's most treasured memories. We hope to never forget all of the hilarious stories when we are older. We know our girls will be the first ones to tell our children all of our silly antics, but let's hope they censor them, we all have way too much on each other at this point!

So cheers to all of our true girlfriends. Thank you for your kindness, always listening, never judging, sharing laughter, wiping away tears, being a wingman after a breakup, knowing when we need a (virtual) hug, and always locking secrets in the vault. We cannot picture our lives without all of our amazing girlfriends.
